The FEZR Resource Pack is based on the very popular indie game FEZ by Phil Fish. It is based on a years old texturepack by Edgepixel, but has been remade and updated, to bring you this new and updated version.

FEZ is a colorful 2D platformer set in a 3D world (you can switch between four 2D views to see all the 3D sides of the world), but whats interesting about it in regards to a resource pack is its unique “3D Pixel look”. It looks like a modern and high-quality take of the old 8-bit and 16-bit graphics known from some of the first successful consoles and PCs. That style translates quite well to Minecraft, and it looks gorgeous.

This also means that the pack doesn’t require a very high resolution, and as such is “only” in a 16×16 resolution. The style makes it work though, and you don’t need any more. It also makes the game run as smooth as vanilla Minecraft, which is always nice when you’re dealing with a large amount of blocks. It is also great if your system isn’t as high-performance.

FEZR uses features found in MCPatcher to make it look even better, so if you want the complete and proper experience, be sure to download and install MCPatcher as well. It may still work fine without it, but you will be missing out, and it is not guaranteed to work.

The resource pack really changes the look of the game, it becomes even more colorful. Despite being a pixel-art-ish pack, it still makes the game look smoother and more rounded. If you’re a fan of the original FEZ, even better, as it quite nails the look of it.

Every block, tool, weapon, and item seems to be completely retextured, so the FEZR Resource Pack is almost complete. Some mobs still require some retexturing, but it is not many. It is also still being worked on, so things such as custom sounds, or sounds from FEZ are expected in newer updates. This also means that if or when Minecraft adds new stuff to the game, this pack will be updated to change their textures, at least for the time being.

Here is a comparison between the FEZR Resource Pack and default Minecraft:

Here is an old video of the previous incarnation of this resource pack, the one made by Edgepixel. Much has changed since, but it still gives you an idea of what this pack looks like in motion:
