Mine & Blade: Battlegear 2 is a combat-oriented mod that seeks to overhaul the default and simple Minecraft combat, with something more complex and fun.

Mine & Blade Mod

It features a new weapons system that allows players to have 3 different weapon set equipped at a time, which can be switched to by using the “Switch Weapons” key (R by default).
In essence, this means you have 2 new separate action bars, one on each screen, where only weapons can be put. Pressing R switches between your normal action bar in the middle, to the new action bars on the sides.

Important: The Mine & Blade: Battlegear 2 Mod requires Minecraft Forge in order to function, so be sure to download and install that as well.

To attach weapon sets to this new GUI, you need to use the “BG” Button which is added to your main inventory screen. This function allows you to dual wield weapons such as sword, or the newly added axes, maces, or daggers. You can also use this to equip a weapon and a shield, a fairly common and popular combo being the spear and shield.

When dual wielding, the left mouse button will attack with your mainhand (right weapon), while the right mouse button will attack with your offhand (left weapon).

Shields allow you to better block attack, but holding it up drains your stamina, so only block when you’re about to get hit, or you might not have enough stamina when you need it. To block, simply click and hold the right mouse button, in the same way that you would parry, but watch your stamina.
Shields can also block arrows, which can be pretty useful against pesky archers trying to take you out from afar. Once you block an arrow, the arrow will appear in your shield, allowing you to retrieve it for your own use.
Shields can also be used to shield bash, by pressing the “special action” key (Z by default). Performing a shield bash will cause any mob in front of you to be knocked back. Be careful though, as a shield bash will drain your stamina bar by 1/3, and render you unable to attack for half a second. Lastly, shields can also be dyed, similar to leather armor. To remove dyes, simply place a bucket of water in the crafting grid with the shield.
Here is how you craft a shield:

The new weapons function similar to the sword, they can all be enchanted the same way, as well as be repaired at an anvil.
The mace is perfect for dazing enemies, being blunt and all. It is crafted like this:

The waraxe does less damage to unarmed foes than swords, but are better at penetrating armor. To craft one, look here:

The dagger is the fastest weapon available, but also the one with the lowest damage. That is, unless you hit enemies in the back, where it has a backstab bonus. Here’s how to craft one:

The spear is a perfect all-around weapon, and great for people who like to keep some distance between themselves and the enemy. It recieves bonus damage when you attack from a mount, and works great with shields. It is crafted like this:

New armor is also added, but beware, wearing armor will weigh you down which means that your movement is slowed and limited. Wearing too much armor might even prevent you from jumping over a simple block.

Archers also get some new things to play with, the first of those being the quiver.
The quiver is a small items that allows players to stack four times the normal amount of arrows in a stack. It is crafted using leather and arrows, like this:

To empty a quiver, simply right click it. Quivers can also be dyed like leather armor can, and removing dye is done by placing a bucket of water as well as the dyed quiver in the crafting grid.
If you have a charged quiver in your inventory, shots with your bow will deplete this item rather than using any loose arrows in your inventory.
To use a quiver properly, you must “dual wield” it with the quiver in the offhand.
Once you have a bow and a quiver equipped, a custom actionbar will appear in the top of your screen, showing you all the arrows in the quiver. To switch between them, use the special action key (Z by default). The quiver will also appear on the players model, on their back, which looks pretty neat.
